Title: Hi from a Newbie from Newie Post by teemac on Sep 20th, 2011 at 7:59pm
Hi all,
Have been watching the site for a while, had a bit of trouble loging in, emailed Derek and he sent me the correct link in no time, looking forward to joing in on the topics as the bride and I love to camp and I have started to get a bit of a collection of old CO's and love to try my luck around the camp fire, sometimes I even end up with a great feed :D |

One good thing about CO cooking, you often have to eat your mistakes! Or go hungry...... :o
You are well come here. Enjoy. |

OzJeeper, it's not a failure if you can eat it ! Cut the burnt bit off the bottom, tell no one, what they don't know won't hurt them I reckon.
teemac, where are you and what old ovens do you have ? Oh, and welcome to the site. pd |

Hi All,
Poddy Dodger, man you have blogs all over this site, love ya work, Thanks for the welcome from all who have replied I live in Newcastle, The CO's that I have to date are, pride and joy 15" Furphy, a couple of 10" metters and a UMI, plus the old Chinese one I started with Just posted that I am chasing a lid for one of the metters and the UMI, i also have a metters 10" with a hole in the lid, old mate I bought it off reckons that the boys used to drive a railway pick through them when they had them hot so 8-) as to allow the steam to escape thus causing crispie baked vegies Sounds like a fair plan to me, although there is no way I drive a pick into my babys heart |

teemac, you just missed out, several of us had a bit of a cook-out at Lostock Dam in the Hunter last weekend, some terrific meals cooked and eaten.
I don't think I have a spare 10" Metters lid but will look, don't getcha hopes up though. pd. |

G'day teemac, and welcome from me also.
Pleased you were able to sort out the joinup problem, I replied to your post on exploroz. Hope you have some success with your lid searching. I loaned an 11" Metters to a mate which came home without its lid. There was some arm waving and stern words with that episode! Happy ending though, a good matching lid thanks to this forum. Still looking for matching a lid for this one though! mikel Camp_oven_broken_post_002.JPG (45 KB | ) |
