Title: hi Post by marn on Sep 29th, 2011 at 2:34pm
Hello everyone
I am marnie mother of 4 scouts and wife to ray. Our four children range from 14 to 6 and are in scouting in one way or another. I myself am now a joey leader (6-8 yr olds) and love it. We love camping and enjoy cooking on an open fire whenever we can get the chance. Living on 10 acres means we have made our very own fire pit which we try to use nearly weekly in the cooler months. We look forward to sharing and trying different camp oven recipes. cheers :) |

Welcome to the forum Marnie
I wished I used my firepit weekly during winter. Don't seem to be able to find the time anymore. Don't forget the photos Aart |

G'day Marn. You don't say where you are from but welcome from the Nilma mob.
We picked up our Grandson from Cuboree in Gembrook (Gilwell Park) during the week. Cubs and Scouts rule...... :) |

Scouts totally do rule. they have the best time. We are in the Tamworth area and just love chilling around the fire roasting marsh mellows while waiting for our roast dinners. :)
Just come back from a friends place in Bonny Hills and looked at their fire pit and pizza oven. I am extremely jealous now lol. Would love to build a pizza oven somewhere down the track. We have cooked pizzas on the fire though with good success using bbq plates and bricks. We just lifted one flat bbq plate up on bricks so we could put hot coals under it then put more bricks on top and then the next flat bbq plate so we could put coals on the top. The pizza turned out ok and the kids were happy as they could make their own just the way they like them. Might have to lift the bottom tray a bit higher next time to stop burning the base of the pizzas. |

Marnie. Next time use the time honoured method of the upside down camp oven. It makes great pizzas! Use the search function on here and I'm sure you will get a result, but in general, lay out your pizza on the camp oven lid and cover with the base oven and cover with heat beads/coals and cook away!
cheers Ross & Chris |
