Thanks Derek,
have you heard of a camp oven brand, Simpson or Simonds/simons, an old mate that I know mentioned he had CO by that name and was going to check it out and give me the brand name Cheers Teemac |

Yep, if you have a look around you will see quite a bit about Simpson. They are an old Aussie made oven and pretty good as well.

I think sometimes it is all about how much you are prepared to pay. A lot of people stick to the $10 price. That's $10 an inch so a 12" would be about $120.
Like everything though and especially on eBay some people can pay ridiculous prices |

There is a bit about the history of Simpson here....the Company more than the camp ovens.
http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1274248706 Simpsons are reasonably thin on the ground, compered to Meters for instance. |

Derek, I think the $10 an inch is a thing of the past, nowaday it's whatever a person is prepared to pay, I sold an 8" Furphy earlier this year for $735.
teemac, Simpson ovens, not a great oven, the casting is fairly rough and the pot walls vary in thickness at least on the one I have, why did I buy it ? Because I'm a collector and I didn't have one. pd |

Thanks PD,
I am in the same boat mate, I wont be able to resist if the price is resonable as I dont have one, look like I got my hands on a 11" Meters of old mate, he tells me the lid is same as Metters but does not have the Metters Brand omn the lid, what do you think?? Teemac |

If it hasn't got the name on it it's not the real deal, simple as that. Worth having ? Sure but it's definitely not a genuine Metters without the brand, any collector will tell you the same. pd |
