Hi everyone

I have just banned all email addresses from gmail.com. It is currently the email address of choice for spammers and they are hitting us hard at the moment. This morning there were 507 preregistered spammers and I have to manually remove each one.

What makes it even more difficult is that with that number of them the real members registering are hard to find so that i can approve their membership.

If you currently have a gmail email addressyou can still use the forum but may not get the notifications you normally get. Sorry if this inconveniences anyone.

May I assume you've sent a notice to Gmail?  & have they replied.  I can't see google being very happy at negative pr.

FWIW  my gmail account  is my primary email.

Going by the amount of traffic on the internet Google are well aware of it. Problemis spammers register, do their stuff and are gone within minutes. Many times they are not even registered long enough to get the return email from the forum saying that they are preregistered, which is generated in less tht four seconds before the gmail account has been deactivated.

It is a problem with forum owners as well as gmail itself. Nothing wrong with a genuine gmail acount though.

I am also about to block hotmail.com.uk as it is also now starting to be used.

Even after banning gmail still had 62 spammers try to register in past 24 hours. Starting to wear me down  :-/
