Title: SW Qld, The Dowling Track Post by gecko on Apr 7th, 2012 at 1:20pm
Just wanted to let people know that our part of the Outback is looking amazing with lots of grass, fat stock and the birdlife is incredible. I know there is still some flooding in NSW but SW Qld is totally accessable, all the floods have gone leaving us with a wonderful season.
If anyone wants to visit Currawinya National Park be warned that the Lakes road is closed to all vehicles. Access to the enormous saline Lake Wyara can be had for guests staying at Kilcowera Station. The pelicans are back for the third year in a row breeding on the islands in the lake. Cardenyabba Lagoon is full and a great place to camp for a few days or a week as is the Shearers Quarters campground. Kilcowera also has clean and comfortable shearers quartes accommodation. The whole of SW Queensland looks great, the rivers are full, roads are open and councils have been working on most of them. So come on out! Cheers Gecko |

Yeah after the 9 dry years we put in, it's pretty easy on the eye.
I woluld love to get a camp oven event happening out here, but I just don't know if we would get enough takers to make it happen. Another station near Eulo has a country music weekend. This year will be the first one at their new location, they used to have the country music show at Nardoo near Cunnamulla. Perhaps we could have a camp oven night immediately after the music weekend. One day, maybe next year! Cheers Gecko |

I had a look at your website and the amount of water is amazing!!!
I have had the privilege to Bowhunt on a property SW of Cunnamulla for close on twenty years now and it is indeed incredible to have seen the country in both drought and in good seasons. I love it out there and enjoy taking heaps of photos. When I show people photos of what it looked like in the drought and now these last few seasons they can hardly believe it is the same place. I actually Bowhunted on your place once back in the 1990's and got to see lake Wyara etc. I remember seeing a few nice camp ovens in one of your sheds then. You have a nice place and it is great to see you getting some good rains again. I am looking forward to a trip out to Cunnamulla again later in the year. :) Jeff |

I'd be happy to travel that far for a camp oven weekend..just not this year.
I hunted for years on a property SE of Cunnamulla..It was named Mintaka... owned by a bloke named Hugh? Managed by a fella named Tom King. Big property with a variety of landscapes. Aart |
