have not had a chance to look thru all the info as yet but my wishlist is for a Furphy made in 1978 (might be dreaming but u know)

other than that i am very keen on a number of ovens, the older and more unique the better,

if anyone has anything thats a little different and wants to let me know we can discuss a price that suits both parties.


I am 100% for real and serious about what i want.

I have a 14" Furphy, not a '78 model but a nice oven, it is one with an overlapping flanged lid and a kangaroo on the base, quite unique. The only thing that might put you off is that it is a personalised oven, it has "PETER" and his birthdate on the lid........ is your name Peter and were you born in 1935 ? Oh well I thought that might be too much to hope for  lol.
A heavy little bugger so I hope you don't want it posted.

The problem u have here is these ovens are not that easy to come by and to ask and think that someone will sell you one from this forum is a real long shot. Most collectors I know would rather lose their left arm than part with one of their prized pieces of cast iron. If you put a bit of time and effort in i'm sure something will show up but don't expect it to be handed to you on a platter. No offence intended by this comment but thats just my opinion. As i've said before there are plenty of avenues to look at when trying to find a camp oven and ebay is definitley not the only option, but in saying that camp ovens have been quite reasonably priced of late.

I don't know how you put a price on something like a really rare old oven, the  "Whatever a buyer is prepared to pay" comes to mind.
When I look at a nice Albion or a mint condition Carron I always think to myself they're not making anymore of these.
Er.... how much do you want for it ?.................... Oh come on, get real.

A good place to start looking is at a swap meet, also check out garage sales, the local Sunday 'trash and treasure' markets as well.
I scored an oldie couple of weeks back from local junk markets.
