Post by Derek on Aug 16th, 2012 at 3:49pm
Sea Eagle Cam is up an running again.  There will be sound on the video this breeding season

http://www.sea-eaglecam.org/

Here is a quote from the site

Quote:
The White-bellied Sea-Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster), (Haliaeetus Latin for White-tailed eagle), also known as White-breasted Sea-Eagle or White-breasted Fish-Hawk, is the second largest bird of prey in Australia with a wing span of 1.8-2.2 metres (6-7 feet). It measures 75-85cm (30-33 inches) in length and can weigh up to 4.2kg (9 pounds), the female being larger and heavier than the male. Sea-Eagles are found around the coast and along the major rivers of Australia, New Guinea, South East Asia and as far west as the coast of India.

The purpose of this site to make available all and any information, photos, videos, journal articles and white papers and to be a central information point about the White-bellied Sea-Eagle (WBSE).

http://www.sea-eaglecam.org/video.html is the url for the screen that gives 2 views, close up and wide angle.

Like it or not both images are smaller than on the link Derek gave.

1st egg was laid on July 12, thus, it's not many days before there should be a hatching.

I haven't read that anyone is sure that there are two eggs.  Everyone thinks there are 2 eggs, but the camera isn't positioned so we can see into the nest this year.

Besides me there are a lot more N. American watchers.

& BTW  the falcon cam in Orange should be operational to the wider world shortly.

:)  :)  :)

It is a shame that Frodo Cam of the Peregrines in Brisbane is no more LK.  They didn't return to nest after 2008.

Cheers

& that the peregrine falcons who once frequented the AlCOA Tower in SA no longer do so.

BTW does anyone know of a nest cam for wedgetailed eagles?
