I picked up this 1 awhile back from Bunnings near home, got it for 20 on special, used to have it mounted on the 4x4 until I changed trucks and roof racks and found it got hung up whilst driving so changed it. Very good shovel

$44.98 at Bunnings Griffith NSW.
Needed it for Leeton.
Works well with hot coals.

I bought a long handle shovel...was great for lifting hot coals......thought it be good as it had a long metal collar...extending up the wooden handle....till I needed it as a shovel..to dig out ground to put van legs down....then the wooden handle snapped.....the wood had dried out .prob from heat from fire........anyway I bought another...and after found a replacement handle for one that broke.......a metal handle would be better......I saw some in hardware store....but they were plastic where metal handle met the shovel.........I prefer long handle ones as I have Rhino shovel brackets on roof rack of vehicle.

Thanks David i will have a look for one it looks good for throwing sand/metal/cement into a mixer not sure if i would like to dig a hole with it.

I normall roll with an old long handle bull nose i find it does the job but I have used my post hole shovel with a fibreglass handle with out dramas, I have plenty of wood to burn so a long handle is normally an advantage.

A shovel is a shovel but the best ones have a motor on them ;D

Anything with a wooden handle or other part, I give a coat of linseed oil or similar. To try and prolong it's life.
