Title: Camp Oven Seasoning - VIDEO!!
Post by Derek on Nov 28th, 2012 at 8:17am
There are many different ways to season a camp oven however I find the high heat method works best for me.  Yesterday I spent some time with the Cast Iron Boys making a couple of videos.

Here is one we did on seasoning a camp oven.

Great video Derek.

Folks may also find this video interesting,  which confirms Dereks's excellent advice.

The Cast Iron Ranger, Dan Brooks, shows you how to properly care for your Dutch oven to make it last for lifetimes.

Great video and well presented, May I give a tip that works for me insted of using a rag to put the oil on the oven. I use a paint brush works well on Furphy ovens   ;)

I do too Nelson.
Rags tend to leave material caught on rough surfaces such as the Furphy.

Never thought of using a paint brush before but then I don't have any of those rough old Furphys  :P :P
