Nestled next to the Blackwood River, about 30km south of Margaret River.
Shire owned but still very reasonable prices. Recycling station at the entrance helps with maintenance and improvement costs. A very popular spot for larger caravans with some drive through bays. Lots of jiggling around when things get crowded though. Didn't see any signs for sullage dumping, but some grey nomads stay for weeks at a time... Flushing toilets are the main drawcard for my offspring ;) There is also an open air type cold shower attached to the toilet block. Flat ground for tents is a bit scarce - head up the rise away from the river to the big white gate at the back of the camp ground for a large flat area and hope there aren't heaps of vans in there already. Fresh water (possibly natural spring water) taps on the outside of the toilet block wall and attached to a tree in the camp ground up towards the back. Fire places with BBQ plates and metal rubbish bins are present in most bays. Some have a 'single plank' type bench/table but your best bet is BYO table and chairs Some firewood may be available but BYO is a better option. Can be purchased from Karridale on the way in. There wasn't any left at the campground when we were there just after the Easter rush. http://www.margaretrivervista.com/alexandra-bridge.html sm_Alexandra_Bridge_-_April_2013_001.JPG (78 KB | ) sm_Alexandra_Bridge_-_April_2013_014.JPG (95 KB | ) sm_Alexandra_Bridge_-_April_2013_006.JPG (69 KB | ) sm_Alexandra_Bridge_-_April_2013_005.JPG (73 KB | ) sm_Alexandra_Bridge_-_April_2013_003.JPG (78 KB | ) |

Before you ask, Derek... there is supposed to be Bream in that river, but methinks they was away on holiday when we threw some hooks in the water :D
It is a very nice spot if you don't go at the peak of the busy season! Very popular with young families and grey nomads. No 'doof-doof' types when we have been there. There aren't any designated bays which means sometimes people park their vans in unusual places/angles/distances. It can be funny watching a huge van try and nudge past a small van parked halfway out on the roadway bit ;) $40 will get you a spot for a whole week, per pensioner, during off peak times I believe there is a council law which limits it to max 4 weeks at a time though The rest of the time it is $8 per adult per night, $5 per child. I think this is great value for flushing toilets, a freshwater shower to rinse under if you'be been swimming, and potable water. The only negative thing I can think of is that there is no light for the toilet block! One of those $12 solar shed lights would make it so much easier to find in the middle of the night. :D (makes note to send solar shed light suggestion to MR council) |

looks a ripper of a camping area. couldn't ask for much more.
mmm, maybe a privacy screen on the shower. or is it a naturalist area :-[ :-[ Was wondering what the hatches were for in the shed pic. can't enlarge your pics , but sticking my head to the screen :) it is a recycling shed. Have never seen anything like that before. |

I managed to enlarge it but it got very blurry. It is a rubbish bin recycling area. Each of the hatches is for depositing different items. How amazing. Never seen anything like that before. :) sm_Alexandra_Bridge_-_April_2013_001_001.JPG (83 KB | ) |
