Title: WOODFIRED PIZZA OVEN
Post by TBF on May 10th, 2013 at 7:11pm
Just come back from 3 nights camping at MikeO's 14 acres at Mt Byron. Piping Hot was also there along with some others from work.

I promised MikeO to build a Pizza Oven for him.
Built it over 3 days.

3 days, wow. How cool is that ::)

I take it you didn't get a chance to use it in that time.  Would need to dry out.

I don't like pizza  ;D ;D ;D

I only worked 4 hours a days as well.
Needed to get the mortar to hold before the dome started to arch over too far.

In 5 weeks we are making the return journey for a pizza and beer night.

It should be dry and settled down by then.

Looks good, you've obviously done that before. Do you use refractory bricks?

Never made a Pizza Oven in my life before.
My father and grandfather were both bricklayers.
I did a lot of watching when I was a kid

Sure did!
The total cost of the oven above the platform height was $150.00
MikeO got a bargain.  ;)

I had plans, but mike made the platform smaller than required.
So I had to stuff around with the measurements and wing it.

Brilliant job Aart!

Besides cooking pizza, it looks like a nice little spot to hang out on a cool evening too - assuming it will be staying where it is!

It is amazing how much you learn just by watching... without realising you are learning it!  :)

Great work by the looks of things. Seem like it was a great way to spend a few days although the next visit sounds even better. ;D

Have you any Eskimo blood in you Aart ? That would explain your natural talent at building these structures  :)

With retirement looming, maybe you could earn some beer money building these igloos?

Would be like a giant choofer if you just whack your campovens inside.

4 brickies loam 1 cement and 1 lime.
Add watter and a little detergent to make it easy to work with.
Nothing else special mate.
