I'm no expert......but I have several.....2 from Rays Outdoors and 1 from BCF...and 2 spun metal from Southern Metal Spinners ..... all cook well for me....just remember what ever you buy .you must season well....even ones that say they are already seasoned

Buy what you can afford  :)

I'm with Smokeydk and go buy a cheap one as long as the lid does not wobble and you season it well your roast will not know the difference. I owned many cars in my time and the one I have fond memories with is my old Valiant Ranger ute I paid $300 and from there I grew an appreciation for the finer cars. The same happened with me and my camp ovens

To begin with I would suggest a 9qt cast iron from a camping store... BCF etc - or if it just you then maybe a 4.5qt

Get used to controlling heat / cooking with that (cast seems to be more forgiving with beginners) then move to the spun steels (Hillbilly/SMS Bedourie etc) and give them a try.  Once you decide which you prefer, you can expand your collection.

I have an SMS Bedourie, Hillbilly Bushranger, and an Oztrail 4.5qt Cast Iron and use all three of them regularly, just depends on what I am cooking and for how many   -  as others will tell you, you can never have Too Many    ;)
