Title: COG in March 2014 Post by poddy dodger on Dec 28th, 2013 at 8:13pm
I've heard a rumour that there could be a COG at Broke in March 2014. No dates yet but don't make other arrangements or claim you didn't get enough notice........... just be there.

We would be keen depending on the dates. The school holidays start early April up here and we were planing a two week trip then with our daughter, son in-law and three granddaughters.

G'day Ron. Broke is about 35kms N /W of Cessnock in the Hunter Valley. A grassed free camping area with water and flush toilets, a convenience store and a bottle shop, what more do you want ?

OK...the unofficial committee have decided on the dates for the COG at Broke, 22/23 March and a couple of days either side if you feel inclined. Everyone is welcome, friends or relos, all you need is an interest in camp oven cooking and enjoying some good company.
Bring your ovens, we enjoy a bit of "Show and Tell" and if you have a trailer some firewood would be a big bonus as it's very scarce at Broke. If you've never been to Broke it's a free camping area, a big grassed area under trees with good toilets opposite a convenience store and bottle shop. I hope to see you there. Rob. |

Two events that may prevent us from attending:
1. Grandson due late April coming early (always a possibility) 2. This house selling and needing to move out. Other than that count us in. I did drive out along one of the country roads and cut wood from a fallen tree when we were there so will bring the chain saw with me. |

Two couples I know who are not associated with COCIA are very keen to attend, I don't know if Muzz has included them in his count but even so we have plenty for a very good COG.

Unfortunately we are unable to attend this one which is disappointing. I always look forward to going to Broke as it was the first time and place that I attended a cog. I will be in Sydney going to a Major League Baseball game at the SCG but next time hopefully we'll be right as it has been quite some time between cogs for me.

The mrs and I might be able to make it. I couldn't think of a better way to learn what these heavy metal buckets are really used for. We've never been on a COG and wouldn't have a clue what to bring. Is there a page somewhere with a list of what to bring?

paulhenry, bring your cooking/camping gear, ovens and anything special for "Show 'n Tell", ingredients for a couple of meals to have and to share as we all do. Chairs and table, a bag of Heat Beads (or a couple of ton of red gum would be nice) most other stuff like axes and shovels others like me will have.
Bottle shop across the road, flush toilets and tap water on site, oh and be prepared to have a good weekend. Rob. |

TBF can't go to this one
I have the days off required, but I made a commitment back in November to cook for 50 at a youth camp that weekend. COGs have not worked for me in the past year and I am badly in need of one. Aart |

Just got off the phone with Rory who notified me of this.
I will be there, though it might be on a weekend when the missus is working which will mean just a quick drop in for a meet & greet with my kids in tow but if she is off work I can probably make a weekend of it. Cheers, Mick. |

After missing a couple of COG's we were looking forward to Broke, the last one we attended there a ripper. :)
However there was always a background plan of visiting vamily in NZ before our winter trip chasing gold in outback WA. 8-) So flying out of Sydney on the 14th. to 30th. can only say I hope the COG is a great success. Lashings of CO food, great weather, more CO food then evening ports and yarns around the campfire. :P mike |
