Title: My Next Project. Post by Guss on Sep 19th, 2016 at 5:12pm
Well just had a knock at the door and the Mrs shouted out,...that would be your birthday present. Standing there was TNT couriers with my new resto project, a 14" Scandia W.A CO.
I'm totaly over the moon with it :D, awesome...cant wait to get stuck into it ! The Mrs said the old fella she bought it off recons his family had used it on the Farm since new and that he could remember it as a little tacker. Anyhow Just thought i'd share some "before" shots of the new project. |

Congrats on the new oven and I'm sure you will enjoy cleaning it up and putting it back into use.

I know it's been said before, possibly by me but wouldn't it be good if an oven could tell you where it had been before you acquired it ?
A while back I bought a nice 10" Metters and the lady told me it had belonged to her recently deceased father and had sat in his shed unused for 30 or more years. A 12" Furphy I bought off a dealer still had the charred remains of a damper in it, at least I think it was a damper. A 13" Harding I bought on eBay years ago came from Bourke with half a pound of red sand in it lol ! All old ovens have a story, wish they could tell them. BTW nice Scandia Gus. Rob. |

Only 10 mins into stripping the lid and the process looks like it's working fine.
BIG bonus that I'm also still alive :D :D :D |

The before and after shots.
I'm really pleased with the result thus far for my first de-rust project, not seasoned yet ....just out of a 8 hour bath and a wire brush. I'll give it a finall wipe down with some coarse salt & Lectrics just to clean out the pores then will start the seasoning process tonight. |

Looks like a new oven Guss [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Maybe bake a cake for our current challenge. That way you wouldn't need to clean it :D |
