Title: State border permits
Post by Bear on Jul 20th, 2020 at 9:16am
Have tried to search but can not find a direct answer.

At this point do we need a permit to enter NSW from SA via Broken Hill?

I know one is required to enter Qld.

Is one required to enter the NT from Qld?

Sorry having trouble getting my head around all this. Cheers Robert

As of today

No permit required from SA to NSW

NSW to Qld - https://www.qld.gov.au/border-pass

Qld to NT - https://forms.nt.gov.au/Produce/wizard/9ffc58df-b0a5-422e-86e5-f260522c072a/

Just be aware though that the requirements are changing regularly

Thank you Derek appreciated, yes I am keeping a eye on it and with the latest out break expecting changes.

Can not believe the number of morons who try to break the isolation regulations which are there for the safety of everyone. Cheers.

Seen on the news today that they are talking of moving the Queensland border south and another report about moving the Victorian border north, is this a move to takeover NSW by stealth?
In all seriousness things are not looking good because so many people think the threat is over or if it really ever existed, new outbreak clusters all around me in Sydney, I've started wearing a mask.

Title: Re: State border permits
Post by Bear on Jul 20th, 2020 at 10:00pm
If they get a serious cluster north cost then I am afraid I will be out. Just can not take the risk of not be able to continue north.

Hope it does not come to pass looking forward to the COG. Cheers

I think the Qld Border thing is a lot of political nonsense bit we will wait and see.  Qld Premier wants it moved south to make processing people across the border easier and the NSW Premier said why don’t you move it north of the Gold Coast.u7

There is a protest organised in Sydney next Tuesday and they are quite concerned that could spark further outbreaks.

Here in the Lockyer Valley we have only had one case since it all started and that was right back in the early part.  Seems pretty safe here at this stage.

Sadly the actual answer is politics and money.  By moving the checkpoints into NSW both QLD and Vic are not responsible for policing of the border as it is no longer within their jurisdiction.  Therefore the pollies get to deny it was their fault and NSW gets to pay for it all and cop the blame.

Gladys should tell 'em in no uncertain terms that the borders need to move out of NSW.  Especially the Vic border.

:D ;D :P

Move the border to the tweed river. (no one can up the barriers)
Make the queensland police officers special constables  for NSW (so they have power of arrest in NSW should the need arise )  Queensland continue to man the road blocks.
Queensland pay (as they are now)

Well how kind of here but although we are not planning to at this stage, it seems our Premier has decided that we can cross over the border back into our home state of Qld from 1.00 am Friday.

Our son, on Sunday flew down to Orange, for three weeks work at the Newcrest underground gold mine.
I think he was told they need to apply on line before coming home.

Yeah, it is a pretty basic process.  We had to get one to pass into Victoria not that anyone checked at all.

Now Queensland have locked the gates to a lot of greater Sydney.

I can see from here on we will simply just have to work with these.

As some will know we are in the process of moving to the Barossa Valley.  We head off on the 21st of this month.

Last night we applied for our permits.  We need two each. A transit through Victoria permit from the Vic Gov't and a relocation permit from the SA Gov't.

The transit permits came through within five minutes.

We are still waiting on the relocation permits but I guess there is more to look into than a mere passing through approval.

It's like the lottery of applying for a visa to an unstable country - who knows what will happen?

We have just arrived at Eumungerie just north of Dubbo on the Newell Highway.

Last night we applied for Border Permits to get into Queensland and have received Green Permits which allow us to cross over and go home even though our home area is in lockdown.  Permits are for crossing back in on Friday.

Pretty painless process online/

I really feel for the people of NSW at present especially those in the Sydney area.

44 new cases of COVID overnight and 29 of those have been in the community while infected so we will see a lot more in coming days.

I know it has been talked about and I can see hard borders possibly on the way that will shut NSW off to the rest of the country.

Sad and difficult times

A lot are not helping themselves or others by going out when not needed. I’m alright Jack and stuff yo seems to be the atitude of too many in NSW and those who try suffer because of it.

As a Sydney sider I can tell you things are really serious here, stay at home is the message, one person in the household allowed to go shopping for essentials, police on horseback patrolling the streets (true) and $1K on the spot fines for not wearing masks, where and when is it all going to end?

Title: Re: State border permits
Post by Rabbitz on Jul 10th, 2021 at 8:08am
We received our SA Border permits this morning (finally).

Of course this simply moves the cursor to the next problem.  The removalist has gone bust so now we are scrambling to find a new one with just over a week until we have to leave this place...

:(

Title: Re: State border permits
Post by mikel on Jul 10th, 2021 at 8:54am
I certainly would not want to be living in any large regional or capital city in these times.
We also saw on TV news last night the police patrols taking place, the two shown on horseback no face masks either.

PD. You and I are old enough and been around enough to know what this is all about. Its all about control, how many past governments have tried and failed their various ways to obtain more control over the general population. Its here now, handed on a plate. What is happening is the thin end of the wedge for sure. :(

Title: Re: State border permits
Post by Derek on Jul 10th, 2021 at 11:55am
The new figures are in for NSW. 50 new cases in last 24 hours.  Not getting any better and according to the “experts” likely to get worse before it improves.

A lot of you are aware that most of my extended family as well as many friends live in the UK.  Talk to many of them regularly and they used to tell me of the dozens, hundreds and even thousands of people dying all around them over there in the middle of their pandemic.  It sure is much better now.

They didn’t have border controls and effective lockdowns and many of them were astounded as to why not..

We are very fortunate over here.  When this thing hit they made some hard decisions that worked and we haven’t seen the devastation seen overseas.

But back on to borders I think it will take just one case to come to Qld from NSW with the virus and we will have a hard border here.

Fingers crossed for Silverton.  🤞🏻

That seems a little overstated Bear.

It seems the SA Gov have moved to close a loophole where SA Residents could say they would do 14 days self-quarantine but simply didn't have the will or even the premises to do so.

Well at least that's my reading of it - given we are currently trying to get into SA to move to our new place we are watching closely - We had to prove we had the capability of isolating, where residents didn't.

Although if they do shut us out then we will be homeless.

Hi Derek,

We should.  The new regulation that came in at midnight has thrown yet more hurdles into our way.

We have just filled in the paper work for yet another govt department to prove whether we can actually isolate ourselves properly.

There are just the two of us in a free standing house so we have our fingers crossed.

The problem is we are being moved out of this house on Friday - the application can take up to 14 days.

Well it looks like it is pretty much official.

As of Saturday we will probably be homeless.

It turns out in another stunning piece of bureaucratic bastardry, we not only have to do the new application from yesterday but we will need to start the other application processes again too.

And, as they are reliant on each other, we have to do them one at a time serially.  So given we have 6 days to be out of here, and the process is likely to take over 14 days we will run out of time.

Kind of regret selling the camper trailer now...

Early Friday morning (around 1 AM) we received SA Health approval to enter SA.  8 AM Friday we reapplied to SAPOL for our entry permits using the SA Health exemption.

Early afternoon Friday we got SAPOL approval.

Saturday was spent sorting, packing, putting cats into boarding, arranging transport for the cats, etc.

Sunday at sparrow's fart we left.  We got stopped several times by NSW Police on our way towards Lithgow.  Once at the checkpoint at Lithgow we were 'interviewed' by a copper whose mission was to turn around anyone who did not have a reasonable excuse to leave Sydney.

Put simply, we buried him with all of our paperwork. To which he said "you seem to be prepared".   ::)

Two and a half days driving later we hit the final hurdle - the border checkpoint into SA.

The coppers there checked all of the paperwork, gave us a spiel about quarantining and welcomed us to SA.

We are now into day two of our 14 day quarantine at our new place in the Barossa.

We heard today in a press conference that the SA government has essentially stopped processing permits in the last few days.

Yes they can.  As long as you haven’t been in one of the hotspots for 14 days you can get a pass from Victoria to travel through NSW but you have to do it within 24 hours.

Without stopping and managing the speed limit, it is 11.5 hours travel time down the Newell Highway from Goondiwindi on the Qld/NSW Border to Tocumwal on the NSW/Vic Border so doable if two driving.

We have just got back home from Cape York. Southerners everywhere with their caravans. I didn't want to come home.
Roads were the worst I have ever seen them.

NSW state premier says the lockdown in this state will continue until the end of November, yes November, I can't travel out of Sydney even though I've had my second AZ shot and a certificate to prove it.

It seems that Gladys (The Koala Killer) Berejiklian and John (Mining is more important than farming or people) Barilaro have realised that by doing too little too late in an effort to protect their political skins they have created a disaster that will likely take their political chances down a long drop loo.

So now NSW has a more meaningful lockdown, yet I fear it is going to get worse before it gets better.

The NSW Police will have enhanced powers to stop, detain and fine.  Sorely needed in the situation but I bet it will be a big job to take the powers away once this is over.

Still a $5000 fine may not be enough to deter most of the "covidiots".

Hi Bear
Not much. You can not get blood out of a stone. is  a saying I can remember.
In Qld there once   was  a government body  that collect money owing from fines. You could arrange like a payment plan to pay fines.
