Hi back at you Brian.
Stay safe and away from Victorian border hoppers.
Sadly I think it will be a long time before we see a return to some form of normal.

Yes Hello Brian
You and Sharron stay safe.
Have you doing any wood work ? what about your pens?
I am not doing any  yet but just about to get back into it.
The work shop in the village here has been open for use but
I have been laying low.
Have a great day. Take care.
Kev

Thanks Brian.  All good here but I think this bloody pandemic is slowly creeping up on us sadly.

Maggie and I have been talking the last few days and wondering if we shouldn’t head bush for a while.

Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic but I think things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. The repercussions will last for lots of years  and Australia is doing better than most countries, who'd want to be living in Lebanon right now ?
We've decided to stay at home for the next month or so and see which way  the wind is blowing....... as they say!

PD mentions the situation in Lebanon and when I also heard a out it had to shake my head in disbelief.
Am sure others on here would know that ammonium nitrate is basically a fertiliser but used very extensively throughout the mining industry as a low impact explosive.
Thing is though, until it is mixed with a proportion of diesel it is totally inert. Even then, if ignited the diesel burns....there is no "kaboom"...it has to be detonated. For a small amount a normal fused detonator is ok, a large amount may require several simultaneous detonation points using gelignite for the explosion to occur.
Some years ago I saw a 3tonne detonation shifting a 200 metre long caprock shelf at an opal mine near Yaraka in Qld.
One can  only imagine what the blast at the Kalgoolie  super pit looks like.
That was no accident in Lebanon  :'(

Mikel
Take in mind that the substance has been sitting in a warehouse for 6 years deteriorating  under conditions we do not know of.

There was a fire at the location and surrounding areas which in all indications was severe enough to be a trigger for the explosion and killed three fire fighters when it exploded.

Your statement is not needed unless you intend to vote for the trump.

Most certainly not welcome on this site at lest not by me.

I have just sent off another lot of pens for the troops.
Also made a mother of pearl rollerball pen. The mother of pearl was one of my own castings.
