Title: Warning On Use Of Portable Butane Stoves
Post by Derek on Jan 18th, 2021 at 4:23pm
I have always warned people about using these little stoves for starting heat beads.  The ash will drop down and slowly fill up the burner holes.

This photo was posted up on Facebook by Heat Beads themselves.

Very scary.

I have to say I am not entirely sure I'd use on for lighting a chimney, apart from the obvious risks, I wonder why it is needed?

I use two sheets of newspaper scrunched up or a firelighter.

In any case, these types of stoves have been the target of several recalls over the years.  I use them for what they are designed to do, but you need to be careful of trapping heat, so over sized pot or pans are a no no.

I wonder if the stove in the image was one of the current AGA approved ones?

Fools gas and fire never mix.
