Title: Snoopy Asked "Why Rain On Me?" Post by Rabbitz on Jul 10th, 2021 at 7:50am
Hi All,
I hope this missive finds you well. A COVID-19 Update From The State of NEW SOUTH WALES Well our state government have, up until recently, seemed to be coping with the pandemic fairly well. Then about a month ago hubris set in and they started touted how good they were. Apparently they were the "gold standard" when it came to Covid-19 practice. Then there was a slight up tick in infections. Two weeks ago they introduced what they were calling "stay at home orders". They were very careful to not frame it as a lockdown because that would make their touting look bad and hurt them electorally. These orders became known as a "mockdown" as it changed nothing. Needless to say Karma is a biatch. The so-called "greater Sydney Area" has now been plunged into a proper lockdown as Covid-19 infections with the Delta strain start to spiral out of control. Too Little. Too Late. Add this to the incompetence of the Australian Federal Government's handling of the vaccine roll-out where Australia has fewer than 8% of its population vaccinated. Our Prime Minister who is referred to as "Scotty From Marketing" because of his big grandiose announcements, unfortunately, as Keating once opined, he is all tip and no iceberg. Announcements are all that happen - the delivery just doesn't happen. I suppose it's because we are an island that we have finally reached the status of Banana Republic (with apologies to Jimmy Buffett): Down to the Banana Republics Things aren't as warm as they seem None of the natives are buying Any second hand Australian dreams So in lockdown, busted ribs, still trying to find a removalist for next weekend as the booked one went broke, and it is freezing cold and pouring rain... Thanks Kevvie.
Just over a week to go, but each and every day brings a new challenge. As it stands we are bordering on being screwed due to the removalist situation. We had booked them a couple of months ago, so to be scrambling to find an interstate removalist with a week to go in difficult. At least we had not paid them any money yet. |
