Title: Aldi
Post by Derek on Nov 23rd, 2021 at 1:50pm
Visited our new Aldi this morning for the first time.  Only been open 4 days.

Quite impressed with the fully stocked shelves still.

Bought a few things.  I love their big full ducks.  The jam/preserve has 14% Sav Blanc wine in it and the nearest price I have seen in a long time for lamb racks in butchers was $49.99 a kilo.

Nice lamb roast for dinner.  :)

HI Derek
Before Lesley became ill her and I would go around to the 4 companies shopping and picking up what ever was on special for that week. Now I do the shopping just getting what we need.
It is funny how your shopping habits do change as you get older.
So enjoy the shopping at the new supermarket. Handy to have them nearby. Less travelling.
regards Kev ;)

That Lamb Rack was a good price; it should make a very nice meal too.

Jeff, had it last night although half left over for tonight.  Made a paste of salt, pepper, garlic and chopped fresh rosemary.  Covered the fatty part with it and did a slow cook.  Meat just about falling off the bone and oh so delicious.

I actually enjoy a lot of their overseas products.  Can buy a lot of food items there not available anywhere else in Australia.

I am very much like our local Coles and Aldi car park at the door. Woolworths long way to store
I am a very quick shopper. Shopping list in one hand trolley in the other. items packed in the car get home and pack every thing away.
regards Kev

Sounds very delicious indeed! We had BBQ'd lamb ribs tonight and they were very nice also.

For those who have one of these how much current do they draw?

Looking at it as a back up that will be run on a generator.

I have a different brand but I believe they are all similar. Max power is 2000 watts and graduates down to 200

Thanks Derek.

I guess that is sailing a little close to the limits of usability on a 2kVA generator when you factor in in-rush current.

Might have to restock with gas cannisters  :)

Although at $50 it might be worth a play.

Worth a play Collin I mainly use mine at the low scale anyway and if you ever have access to a camp with power they are great for outdoor cooking. Fire bans in SA now so gas or electric.

The authorities are taking the fun out of bush camping, now many places have signs saying  "No solid fuel fires" so gas BBQs or an alternative is a must. I can understand the reasoning behind this, on a recent trip I wandered down through two recently vacated campsites where the campfires were still smoldering surrounded by stubbies etc.
Grubs.

Rob, I think that since the last lot of big fires across the country there has been significant fear amongst authorities that has caused some of it.
