Title: Tis A Bit Wet
Post by Derek on Feb 25th, 2022 at 7:40pm
Tis a bit wet here. 246 mm of rain in the 25 hours to 5.00 this afternoon.  Piddling down still.

Motorhome was marooned earlier.

How’s everyone else going as they are saying this is right long the east coast

Hi Derek
Yes it is a bit wet. Apparently the Logan river (at the back of
the village) is on the way up.
It is always good to have plenty of food in the pantry so  you don't have to go out onto the roads.
stay safe
Kev. ;)

Spoke to my neighbours this afternoon.
They had 150mm in the rain gauge in 6 hours.
They've been twice today to pump water out of our pool.

No sign of slowing up on BOM RADAR.

Just after 4.00 am and the first coffee of the day.  Sleep has not come easy this night.

Hopefully we will see an easing of the rain today but not hopeful.

Fortunately we are dry and safe inside here at home but many others in our area are not.  Been many evacuations across the Lockyer in the past 24 hours.

Hi
They are saying the rain could be here to  tuesday next week. I hope not. As the river is coming up there is enough water in the  farm across the road  to replace the sugar cane with rice
Stay save
regards Kev

Eased right off here since midnight and looking around at the council flood cameras water has gone down.  Then again wouldn’t take much to come up again.

They had to rescue some people off the roof of a house in Grantham late yesterday.

Already out here some places have exceeded the 2011 flood heights.

You'd be hard pressed to know that there is a large flood event in Queensland.

The media have worked themselves into such a tizz about Ukraine and that is all they are covering wall to wall, 24/7.

I hope you guys are all ok.

Just got a message from neighbour.
280mm from 0600 yesterday.
Similar day before.
More again today.

Hard pressed to know that Covid was still around.

We have now had an accumulation of 442mm since Thursday night.  On the old scale that is near 18 inches.

Has eased off now and the flooding across the Lockyer has started to go down.  Even had blue sky for a short while this morning.

They are saying the rain is still coming however over next 24 hours before it dissipates to the south.

My Home Sewerage Treatment barely survived.  It went underwater completely.  After neighbours built there house a river runs between us.  The joys of living at the bottom of a hill I guess.

Morning how is everyone in SE Queensland and northern NSW holding up? Trust you are all safe and well. Robert

Morning Robert.  All good here.  Lots across the Lockyer Valley aren’t though.  Floods exceeded the 2011 heights.

My home town of Gympie experienced their highest flood level since 1893.

Not for us but for many the cleanup begins.

Hi
We are dry ,the sun is out plenty of water. The farm across the road is like a lake. water in the village caravan storage yard is about 5metres deep. :o
the road to the back entrance to our village is under about 2  metres of water ::)
Hopefully once the tide turns the water is start to disappear
Regards Kev

Two pics.  This is the rail bridge at Grantham.  First one at it’s highest and second one this morning.

Final empty of the water gauge just before and now have a cumulative 474 mm.

That is actually just a millimetre short of 19 inches for the event.

More rain than we have most likely had here in several years.

Was bright and sunny this afternoon.

We got hammered with 50+mm in 30 mins in that storm in the Barossa.

The creek at the back almost banked over and it hasn't run in a decade.

The orchard was a torrent 6 inches deep.

And then today got 20mm in 30mins followed by 15 in 15.

The place looks like a swamp!

Two days ago it was parched.

Little Honda 2 generator fuelled up and ready for the next blackout.

The blackout this morning lasted just over 5 hours so a good run for the little Honda.

One of the best things we did when they were building this house for us was to get the electrician to wire it up to take a generator during blackouts.

I've been seeing a major mismatch between our electronic rain gauge and the good ol' Nylex plastic one.  The fancy one has been showing 10 and 12mm on sunny days and days of light rain where the normal gauge shows 0 to 1 or 2.  On heavy days they come back into alignment.

Just had a look and the electronic gauge has a dirty great spider in it and I think when it moves around it is tipping the measuring bucket :)

Not sure how to get him out - he's now too big to fit out the drain slots...
