Ofttimes you wonder why.

A few days ago we found out that our 12 year old granddaughter, Chelsie, has contracted cancer.  She has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

She is in hospital and expected to remain there for many months.  The doctors have commenced chemotherapy and are in the process of finding a bone marrow donor.

Naturally Maggie & I will be taking on a lot of the family responsibilities over the coming months and will not be travelling at all.  We will not be at the Yetman COG.

Will try and update as we can.

Please spare a thought and your prayers for our little girl.

yesterday we were notified our 2 baby great grandchildren have Covid...under 2 years old

Sorry to hear the bad news Derek, will have my fingers crossed in hope of treatment and a recovery that goes as smoothly as possibly can.

Just spoke with Kevvie and he directed me to this sad news.

Just a little update on Chelsie.

Everything progressing as we expected.

She has finished round one of chemotherapy and sadly has already lost all of her hair.  For a 12 year old “young lady” quite devastating however Mum and some aunts, uncles and cousins have shaved their heads in support.

They are also actively looking for bone marrow transplant donors.  That is a world wide process to find a matching donor.

Biggest downside now is the chemotherapy basically takes out her immune system so visits are no longer on the go to prevent any further illness to her.  That’s pretty hard for brother and sisters and Maggie & I.

This is a long process and as a family we are staying focused and positive.

Sharing a pic of our little girl.  Not doing too well today.  She has started the second round of chemotherapy and yesterday had a lumber punch which has left her in considerable pain.  That little thing gripped in her hand is a morphine pump.

In herself she is good though.

An update on our little girl.

Treatment is naturally ongoing.  She was able to spend this last week at home with the family which was good for everyone and gave us a break from looking after the rest of the family.

She is back in hospital today for the next round of chemotherapy.

A perfect match bone marrow donor has been located and that person will be making the donation in two weeks time.  I think it is two weeks after that when she has the bone marrow transplant.

In a nutshell all is going as expected but still a long way to go yet.

To make things worse her Mum tested positive to Covid this afternoon.

This is what we are experiencing.  The donor is from outside our family but with a perfect 7 out of 7 match for Chelsie.

A good news update.  Our little girl had the transplant and tests back a few days ago show that it was a success and there are currently no Leukemia cells in her body.

That is fantastic news!!!!!

Doesn’t mean that it is all over yet and still a ways to go but we are looking very positive towards the future for her.

Great news!

A few days ago was day 100 for Chelsie.

She had a test last week and has come back that she is still free from Leukemia Cells.

We are all rejoicing with her.

She still isn’t out of the woods yet but this is the best news we could have hoped for.
