Title: What is snooping at night.
Post by Bonnie on May 21st, 2022 at 3:17pm
I often think, what kind of animals visiting the garden at during the night,  So We brought ourselves a hunting trail camera.
So far I have caught,  possums, kangaroos, bettongs, curlews, rabbits, cats, and a couple of dingo pups, that we have watched  grow up.
We have  some eyes, which we not sure of what they are.
That is the joy living on the edged  of the bush. :)
I will save some night photo when I get some good ones.

That's a great idea. I often wonder what visits me while I'm sleeping in my swag in the bush...but not sure I'd want to know

We had a yowie hunter on here as a member for a while. He did email me before joining and knowing the sense of humour on here I did tell him what to expect.

He put up some posts with very questionable images and couldn’t handle the discussion that followed.  ;D

They are still here somewhere.  8-)

We have the Maalan monster who lives in the Palmerston Rain Forest between Ravenshoe and Innisfail.
He is reputed to in the Misty mountain region along the old Maalan Road, or so I am told.

John

Ion Idress wrote a book that was published in 1959 called The Tin Scratchers. A true account of his time spent tin mining in the jungles south of Cooktown. In that area around the pub called The Lions Den.

In it he talks about the mythical creatures in that area.

In 1969 a mate and myself embarked on a trip up there where we were catching snakes, lizards and other reptiles around the Cooktown area for a reptile park.

I had read the book and wrote to the Australian Natural History Museum in Sydney and asked if they had any information on them. I got an amazing letter back however in essence they had no substantive evidence but welcomed anything we found.

Even though we visited the remains of a lot of old tin mines we never did of course.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

By the way Idress books are amazing if you like stories of early Australia.
