Title: New Herb - Curry Plant
Post by Derek on Sep 15th, 2024 at 9:32am
Was browsing in the plant nursery of Bunnings a few weeks ago, as you do, when I noticed a plant called Curry Plant.  Never noticed it before.

Has a nice silvery look and can grow into a bush.

Has an aroma similar to curry and apparently has healing properties.

To cut a long story short I grabbed one and have had it growing in a pot for a couple of weeks.

Cooked up some chicken thighs the other day and cut several long strands from it and placed it on top of the chook.

Yes, gave it a nice flavour.  I even ate the cooked pieces of the herb.  Was salty and flavoursome.  Next time will chop it first.

The last photo here is of a mature plant off the internet.

I have often wondered about putting a curry leaf tree in the yard but wonder how often I would use it.  The trees I have seen do look good.

A bit like the bay leaf tree I have.  Most likely use 20 leaves a year.

I do use the leaves off the kaffir lime more as I do enjoy Thai style curries.

Overall Maggie doesn’t cope with curries these days so we don’t have them as much as we used to.
