Title: Costco Post by Derek on Nov 23rd, 2024 at 4:13pm
I signed up to Costco last night then had our first foray there today. Make a note never to go there again on a Saturday. :o
Today was a walk through just to familiarise and we didn’t buy anything although did a lot of sampling from staff with taste tables. It’s a huge scary place with millions of other shoppers on Saturday. Aisles were clogged up with 30 metre queues trying to get through the checkout. Need to go back mid week next time. Saw a lot of good stuff especially fresh food. |

Been thinking of joining but our one is north side. How did you like the price as you walked around.

The prices seemed not a lot different to Woolies and IGA. Fresh products like fruits, veggies, meats and seafood were definitely cheaper however a lot f it is bulk buying.
For instance large boned legs of pork were $6.99 a kilo however large pieces 7 to 8 kg. Talking to Rory and he was at Costco this week and the pork legs are ideal for sausage making with the fat/meat ratio about right. |

We buy most of our meat from Costco.
Top quality at reasonable prices. |

Drove down to Costco this morning planning on picking up spices and pork to make sausages.
Came home with nothing and absolutely disappointed. The fridges where they last had the pork was full of Christmas turkeys and they had no individual herbs and spices that I wanted, just mixed packs. I went on my own so just wandered around aimlessly and must admit I doubt I will return. I am pretty savvy on prices and even their bulk prices didn’t really add up. Not sure I want to go back. Looks like IGA for us from here on. |
