Title: Problem!!! Post by Derek on Feb 20th, 2025 at 11:50am
Went to move the motorhome to mow under it and the electric step wouldn’t go in. Went inside and no house power.
Now last time I moved it I became aware of a mouse inside. Traps set and whammo the mouse is now pushing up daisies. On checking my system I found the battery BMS had shut down the battery which is normal with a low voltage. I reset the system and fired it all up and with 40 amps going into the battery via the mains charger it wasn’t charging. Following my routine for checking things found that I had a discharge of 35 amps. WTF. Turned it all off and isolated everything with the master switch to contemplate some. My initial thoughts are that the little mouse has been in where it shouldn’t and chewed through a wire or two and created a short somewhere. Too hot to be out there today so will be out with the multimeter later on. What a bugger. |

Set more traps Derek.
Said mouse may have relatives. |

Traps have been in there for over a week and only the one mouse so will leave them longer for sure.

Success!!!!!!
Well I started by pulling all main fuses and nothing. Then started removing earth cables one by one and still nothing. Then got thinking. Hang on, this happened after I replaced the main truck battery. Removed the cable between the DC2DC Charger and the main battery and nothing. Then all of a sudden a light went on. Ha. Reset the Victron battery monitor. Woooohhhhoooooo the discharge was gone. All I can think of is a spike from the main battery when connecting all up. With the mains charger on and a cloudy day between it and the solar currently throwing in near 45 amps. Happy Derek IMG_3111.png (163 KB | ) |

The body isn’t what it used to be. :)
Been up and down a ladder onto the roof of the motorhome yesterday. Replaced all of the solar connections as there was a little corrosion in supposedly waterproof connectors. The body isn’t feeling it today. :-[ |

Derek I bought one of these.
I use it to clean gutters and trim our trees. its great. Will also be good and stable for cleaning caravan or motorhome roof. Screenshot_20250228-211345_Chrome.jpg (384 KB | ) Screenshot_20250228-211409_Chrome.jpg (391 KB | ) |

Was nice to come back from a drive before and on this miserable showery day finding the battery at 98% charged and the solar throwing in around 8 amps on it’s slow down to float.
Very happy indeed. IMG_1740.jpeg (22 KB | ) |

After all my effort it is nice to be sitting here in a free camp and watching the solar put in more than the system is drawing and holding the battery fully charged at 100% SOC.
ITech tell me the battery should sit at float charge of 13.6 volts so we are pretty good at 13.55 volts. IMG_1829.jpeg (31 KB | ) |
