Title: Breakfast Pasty
Post by Derek on Feb 21st, 2026 at 7:23pm
Well the name should have caught your attention.

This started with two leftover sausages and some onion gravy and while I was contemplating what to do with an idea hit from a TV show where I saw a chef cook a small breakfast pie.

So I thought why not a breakfast pasty.  :)

Following the photos tells the story.

A round of shortcrust pastry.  First a slice of bacon, then some baked beans, then a sausage, then mushrooms and a slice of tomato followed by a few spinach leaves and there you have it.

Folded and crimped, then an egg wash and in a medium oven at 185 degrees for around 45 to 50 minutes.

Served with the onion gravy and a poached egg.

It was absolutely beautiful.

This helps with my quest of finding different things to wrap in a pastry shell.
