Title: Underground Mutton (A Poem)
Post by Furphyslinger on Dec 1st, 2006 at 3:19pm
Underground Mutton

Well I've tried it in cooking
Prepared every way
And I've used all the spices
And stewed it all day

Used curry and stuffing
Tried baking and frying
But the taste of that rabbit
It just wasent dying

You could crumb it with breadcrumbs
Or roll it in flour
But the underground mutton
Taste lingered for hours

They say its pure protien
Well mate I dont even care
But dont ask me for dinner
If rabbits the fare

Cheers Furphy

Was in a fancy restaurant in Sydney last night and they had poached saddle of rabbit on the menu,  I thought what the heck, been years since I ate a bit of underground mutton so ordered it and got, "Sorry sir but we dont have any rabbits at the moment'"  ::) ::) ::) ::)

Next time maybe.

I always like the rabbit baked with the apple, the orange, and the onion one.  But I haven't had that in years either.
