Title: SA Cog 28/29 July 2018
Post by Rufzgutz on Jun 1st, 2018 at 7:08pm
Anyone interested in a get together to coincide with the 10th Anniversary Cog at Alstonville?

Venue to be worked out whenever we see who is interested. Could even be in someone's backyard if that's the way to go.

Maybe Kuipto or Mt Crawford Forest. Don't need to travel far if it's only myself, Gromet and Smokey.

Rosie is a lot stronger and braver than you Dave, so hope her recovery is all good.

Let's just keep the dates     in the back of our minds and see if  the stars line up.

We could always have a Cog at Fresh Choice and get a $16.90 seniors smorgasbord  :)

Me and Dave should be able to rustle up 30 empty drink bottles to give you the extra $3 needed.

LOL......we had 60 cans per black rubbish bag....plus pet bottles in rubbish bags......2 full bags of coffee bottles...and 2 bags of beer bottles

most of them were from the housing estate builders across the road.

worst part apart from loading the bags into the pajero...and taking them out was the stink of curdled milk from the coffee bottles

Where did you get your forecast from Dave? We are not down the south east  ;)

We will have fresh breezes here in the next couple of days. May regret not taking the canoe out today, but body was aching  :(

This is a great spot Chally. A few at Alstonville have spent a night or two here.

25 more than are here Aart  ;D

As said before, Baked Bean Jaffle went down well tonight, with a shared frozen Kit Kat for dessert.

Simplicity at its best.

Ps. Forgot to take a photo of frozen Kit Kat ;D

Total Cost about $1 each :D

Wrong Cog Aart  ;D

This is on the western side of Swan Reach, Bear.

Used to be a quiet spot before Wiki Camps.

Not many this weekend though.

Needed to go exploring today to recharge a flat battery.

The goat track down the cliff heads down to a huge cave that I have wanted to visit since I heard about it. Cindy wont be able to come down with me so may leave it when I have company.

A couple of photos looking down to our campsite.

Made a quick vegetable soup for lunch. Delish.

Had a good day today. Exploring, snoozing and a bit of simple Dutch oven cooking.

Vegetable soup for lunch, an egg and bacon quiche, an apple/coconut/sultana cake that we had with cream and currently drinking hot mulled wine.

You have been busy Rufz

Title: Re: SA Cog 28/29 July 2018
Post by Rufzgutz on Jul 30th, 2018 at 8:07pm
Yesterday was a very relaxing type of busy. Had a two hour afternoon siesta and cooking easy meals for two makes for easy camping.

Plenty of birds around this morning. I just missed getting a photo of two fighting kookaburras.

My body aches of arthritis and I do a little, sit and rest, do a bit more. I didn't think that I would get out in the canoe but I'm glad I did. Have to drag it back up tomorrow.

Simple meals again using my 8" Dutch oven. Sausage sizzle for lunch, chicken casserole and baked cored apple stuffed with sultanas for dinner.

No worries Brian. Do you want more   ;D ;D

It's very relaxing sitting around the campfire, making photo collages with a phone app, resizing with another app. That lot only takes maybe 15 minutes.

Made a wholemeal damper this morning.

Wholemeal S/R Flour and Stout. Mix with knife to get a dry consistency. (Tip from Cactus)

I experimented with some salsa and the end result tastes OK.

After I cut it, I realised that it would have been better to spoon it out from the centre of the whole damper. I will do that next time. We will finish it off with a vegetable soup for lunch.

The birds loved the crunchy biscuit like outside  :D

That's different Rufz
I like with egg in the hollow.

It was an experiment Aart. I was going to roll the salsa inside the damper, but thought this was something different. Probably won't do it again. I like the egg idea, but tonight I might put cheese in the hollow.

This damper is so fluffy on the inside. Used home brew stout and wholemeal S/R flour. Nothing else.

Had a couple of boats drift past today.

Hi Rick
What a great looking spot, you have there.
I will have to start looking for a invite for the next one in your neck of the woods.
I better start  making some Camp Oven stirrers for it.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday

Kevvie  ;)

You will be a welcome addition to future SA Cogs Kev.
We are a bit short of numbers over here.

Last day today, so using up what's leftover.

A savoury mince cooked inside the van tonight.

Cindy knocked up an upside down pineapple pudding/cake. Didn't have any eggs.

Used sour cream on top as we often do on our desserts.
