Title: Marinated Butterflied Leg of Lamb - Which way?
Post by Rabbitz on Jan 23rd, 2021 at 5:46pm
Hi All,

Mrs Rabz bought a marinated butterflied leg of lamb which was on special at Aldi.

I thought I might dig out a camp oven and do it with veggies.

However the marinade has honey in it, so now I am torn between the CO and doing it over charcoal to caramelise the honey and get that charcoal char flavour.

What to do?

For me that type of lamb needs to be chargrilled.  That really is what they are designed for.

They cook up very nicely on a Weber Q actually.  Straight on the grill plates.

Hi Derek,

Yes I am leaning that way too.

Heatwave and possible fire bans notwithstanding I think I'll chargrill it on the kettle bbq.  Chargrilled potato, kumala, pumpkin, carrots and corn will do for accompaniments.

I'll use some coconut heat beads and a little hickory for flavour wood.

If we do have fire bans (or if it's just too hot) the gas grill will do a good enough job in it's place).
