Title: Weber BBQ Skins
Post by Derek on May 25th, 2023 at 2:21pm
Today eleven years ago Maggie and I bought our first caravan after selling the campertrailer.

That means my old Weber BabyQ is nearly eleven years old and pretty well in perfect condition considering it has travelled half the country.

I thought I had every gadget I would ever need for it but recently started reading about Weber BBQ Skins and how fantastic they are.

I thought about it for quite some time and eventually bit the bullet and bought some.

What they are is an aluminium liner for the base of the Weber to make cleaning easy.

My first photo shows the fat buildup in mine after cooking a pork roast so with regular use quite a bit ends up in there.

The other photos tell the story but basically they come in one piece which is larger than the base.  They have very clear lines where you need to cut them in half.  Each half slides in with one sitting over the top of the other.  The grill plates then sit down inside the lip.

Looking forward to see hope effective they are after a few uses.

Here is their website.  Can buy online and some shops that sell Webers like Mitre 10 also have them.  I bought a box of seven so should last quite sometime.

Prices on the website Aart.  I paid $49 for seven and that included postage.

An update on the BBQ Skins.

After cooking a roast last night decided to give the BabyQ a clean.

The skins have been in there since we left home this trip and have had a lot of cooking done and as you can see in the first photo was quite dirty.

All I needed to do was lift them out and pop in a new one.

I had been told that they could make the oven hotter but have not noticed that so far in cooking many different things.

They get a thumbs up from me.   :)

Is that the first change since you started using the skins?

Yep.  Put it in when we left home.
