You can but guess what this is going to be turned into. Couple of slabs of chuck steak and a beef kidney. :P

Had it as a stew with veggies last night.  Just finished eating a jaffle with the steak & kid and mashed potato. Cooked on in my Toastie Toaster on the little gas stove.  :)

Used up the last of it tonight in a couple of pot pies.

Every now and then I can get good beef kidney at IGA so this week was steak and kidney stew again.

Tonight with leftovers I made a couple of pot pies.

Local Mulgowie beans and home made wedges.  Wedges have a sprinkle each of tumeric, cumin and Hungarian sweet paprika.

I am so good to us.   :P

Hey Brian, you asked recently about thick puff pastry.  On these I used two layers of pastry with an egg wash between them.  Puffed up reasonable well.

You could try a Ned Kelly version. Bacon, egg and cheese on top. Or Potato/Shepherds Pie.

Not sure the Ned Kelly would be to my liking with the kidney.  Certainly food for thought though.

Forgot to post this the other day.

We went to an Irish Pub once many years ago and I had a Guinness Pot Pie and I recalled that the pastry sitting on top of the pot had been cooked separately so thought I would try doing the same with a double thickness of puff pastry.

Turned out quite nice and really fluffed up as puff pastry should.   [smiley=chef.gif]

Something different for tonights steak and kidney.  Covered in mash and a sprinkle of cheese and under the grill.

Cannot really call it a shepherds pie or even a cottage pie but it sure was yummy.

Enough for at least three meals and maybe a bit on toast for breakfast.  8-)

Cooked up a nice steak and kidney for dinner.  Used the lamb kidneys we brought back from the farm in Junee.

Not tasted lamb kidney in a while and must admit the taste is much better than the beef I have been getting.

Leftovers for tomorrow as well.

All I can say is YUM. Years ago I would buy lamb kidney and corned lamb tongues
left over steak and kidney on toast for breakfast what a treat.

I used to love the tinned lambs tongues.  Sadly unable to get them anymore.

Yes Derek I also loved them. The funny thing I  still keep looking for them in the hope one day they will re appear
Fresh ones are the way to go. year ago lesley would buy them the kids would love the . I drove past a private butcher
the other day so I going to check him out next week.
I am also looking for a good 100 % australian  bacon. All
the bacon I have found are at least 25% imported ingredients.

Yes Kev, know about the bacon.  Even our local Schultes who used to take out the top prizes for his bacon is only 95% Aussie made now.  I think it is the nitrates that come from overseas.

A few years ago when I had the caravan we went with friends to the caravan park at crows nest. Went to the butcher there and got some real good bacon and ham. Did it all himself.
Same with the butcher I drove past  the other day I know he does his own hams at christmas.
