It's on it's wat via snail mail so got a few weeks wait yet..  Cry Cry Cry Cry

G'day Derek.
Have you received the Lodge yet?
Have seen some pics of their products, the one with picture reliefs on the lid look quite the thing, especially deer etc.
The actual shape/style of the unit seems to be what the el cheepo ones were designed from, and really when it all cooks down to it  they are all capable of turning out an excellent meal.  Wink
I have eaten one of the best stews cooked in an old square 4gal. kero tin! I think it was on the go for two days. Shocked
Looking forward to some pics/info when it arrives.

They said 4 to 6 weeks by snail mail from the States so should be arriving soon.  Yes you are right about the cheapies as well.  I remember the best meal ever cooked on an open fire was when I was shooting on a property years ago and they slaughtered a lamb.  We wrapped it in fencing mesh and put it straight on the coals.

Theres a bit of ego in me though about owning a Lodge.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I'll still bet you're being taken in.

Bet they're only just as good as an old time Furphy!!!

It's just a 'we gotta buy made here' thing.  (That did in the US auto industry that did, IMO.  & probably a few other things where quality had not kept up)

Derek, don't worry; you will like the quility of the Lodge .It's made right down the road from where I live. The folks at lodge take great pride in what they do.It is an age old product which time has proven its worth.

Bob, are both of your D.Os Lodge's or do you have another type?

Would that we could all compare Lodge's to Furphy's, eh?

Yes they are. Little_Kopit one is a ten inch and the other is a 12 inch. Had one of the China make ,but lid fit was very loose and the walls on the oven were very thin. That was the end of the China oven due to the thin wall it cracked at 300 degree F. with a cherry cobbler in it  Angry. What a waste.  Cry . The Furphy's look like a very well made DO. It would rate up there with the Furphy's, way above the China made DO Smiley
