Hi Camperbear & Wazza

These showers that i came accross would hold close to 20l of water.
The difficult part would be when it is full you need to raise it above your head by rope over a branch or something simular

Regards

Did a job yesterday for a client whose brother is a shearer in rural Victoria. He collects old cast iron cauldrons and kettles of which I have several so she's going to ask him if he'd like to do a trade for any camp ovens he might come across.
No, I'm not getting my hopes up but you just never know, I'm desperate, I'll source them from where ever I can !!!!
Reading an article on ovens yesterday and the author said never to buy a pot or a lid seperately as getting a good match was almost impossible. Pretty true, I have quite a few ovens and find the lids are rarely interchangeable.
BTW I know nothing about old railway showers but I did cross the Nullabor on the old "Tea and Sugar" train in the 60's, it did'nt have a shower. A long slow trip.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

Yes PD did a few trips on the "Dirranbandi Mail" to and from Brissie during the sixties in the old Steam Train.
Stopped at every third strainer post from memory, black as and eyes sore from soot when you finally arrived. But it was an adventure and we loved it.
Driver and guard would visit the pub whenever stopped within walking distance of one, no wonder trains never ran on time. Remember the old Railway Refreshment rooms
I must be getting old
