Derek,
I see you have got a photo of the Camp Oven Mate from Southern Metal Spinners on your site.

I have been using one of these for years with a two ring gas burner.  They are brilliant. I place  an oven therometer on the top of the camp oven lid which protudes out the hole in the lid of the camp oven mate. I have found that the temperature indicated on the therometer is 30C less than the internal temperature of the oven.

I highly recommend them - we cook a roast every week at home using the Camp Oven Mate - got it set up in the shed out the back.

Hi

Yes I was given one by Bill at Southern Metal Spinners http://www.southern-metal-spinners.com.au/ a few years ago to try out.  I use a burner the same as the one below.  The unique design of the Camp Oven Mate seems to force the heat down on top of the lid.

...

Last year he sent me a new one that is nearly twice as big that holds my 15" Furphy Oven.  Unfortunately I havent had much of a chance to play with it yet.

They are good though.

Cheers

Hi Furphy

A couple of pics of my Camp Oven Mates.  The small one will be the same as yours and it holds my 12" cheapo cast iron oven. (Will also try the Lodge in it however the lodge is not as high) The big one isnt on the market yet but it will hold a 15" Furphy.

Note the burner I use with both of them.  The trick is not to use to much heat as the shape of the lid of the Camp Oven Mate forces the heat down onto the lid of the oven.

There is another photo where you can see that I can use my Aussie Camp Oven (Another camp oven from Southern Metal Spinners) in the big one.

Cheers

Thanks Derek

I have been speaking to the owner of Southern Metal Spinners on the phone and he tells me that the 15" Mate is now for sale and he asked me which one I would prefer but got the smaller one as I have a 12" oven .
they look like a top little unit in the photos and as I said cant wait to try mine out.

Thanks again for the advice and pics
Regards Furphy
