Well, finally managed to get some photos.  I am completely happy with the Lodge just received from the USA.  The shape is fantastic and the finish better than what I imagined.  It is different to the Furphy in many ways, the most interesting is the length of the legs.

Still has to be seasoned so the pics here are in it's raw state.

For those interested I bought it on eBay and it cost me $130.00 delivered from California.

Cheers

Notice the longer legs on the Lodge.  I am interested in that as primarily people in the USA use heat beads for their cooking.

All I need now is a 12" Furphy to sit alongside it.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Or maybe a 15" Lodge to sit beside my 15" Furphy.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

I better go look at eBay.  Wink

Looks good Derek, I'm looking more and more at American eBay as there are very few (read none) ovens for sale here. Even with the exchange rate and high postage costs some of those old ovens from the USA are looking quite reasonably priced compared to the last few sold on Oz eBay.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

G'day Derek,  I've just measured the legs on my ovens and they vary between 40mm and  65mm, several are around the 57mm (2 1/4") mark.  It probably does'nt matter as they tend to "sit down" on the coals anyway.

With bidding I'll definitely let you know if I'm going for it the next time a suitable oven comes up. Like you I'd really like a 12" Furphy, gee they're scarce.....    Rob.

Rob

Just on 12 months ago I found one in a second hand place near Young and it had $125 on it.  Hummed and hahhed for a while and thought nah I'll find one cheaper.  Now kicking myself for it.
