HI all
I have been looking for a camp oven that A friend of my brought quite a few years back. This camp oven was huge and I tthink by memory a guy was making them somewhere near Forbes????
Anyway I tried tracking the person down and even went as far as contacting the tourist information centre, but the women said he had split with his missus and that was that, He may have left the area.
Anyway these camp ovens ect he was making you could even have whatever you wanted written on the lids,
Ring any bells anyone.
I will have to go thru my old papers and see if I can find the brochure.
But if anyone could assit me. The one we have is too small when the family comes over and I was looking at purchasing one before christmas
If anyone could advise me I would be most Grateful
Regards,
Kaz Cool

Hi Bushtic
There is a comany called Billmans near castlemaine that makes camp ovens and will put what you want on the lid even your name and make them up to at least 15" I was quoted $187.00 plus postage and derek himself is getting some cast in thev near future and advises that he will be able to bring them in a lot cheaper that that.
Hope this helps Cheers Furphy

Greetings Bushtick from an outlander and a wanna visit Ozer.

Re. the Billman Camp Oven, it was discussed here earlier.  I can't find that thread here in the Camp Oven Equipment section, so it must have slipped into some other thread.

Still Poddy Dodger, who is out back right now, checked it out and got one.  His is pictured in this thread http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1159042783

As you can see a the moment you all are about 12.5 hours ahead of time time wise.  So, you call get up about the time I hit the hay.

Cool

hi  kupit,
Your a bloody genius thats great the contraption to get the lid off you made  is!!! Good One!
I havent heard from the master of camp ovens yet, I will call him the master beacuse he seems to be pretty passionate to have such a fantatic website, ect on the  internet.
You would love Australia, It is Gods Country, wouldnt live anywhere else.
I am not great at cooking camp ovens but I love what comes out of them thats for sure.

One thing I did find is if you are going to cook corn in them try this!
I always cut a red capsicum in half and put the corn cob inside the capisum and then all the juices of the capsium goes into the corn and you dont need butter on the corn,
Probaly alot more healthier for us too!

Bushtick, that's a great idea.  I tend to boil the corn, and warm some milk at the same time.  Then I cut the kernels off and simmer them in the milk for at least 15 min.  It gives you creamed corn.  The milk takes up the corn taste.  I use a bit of olive oil.  No salt.

BTW about  your name, are ticks of this ilk in Oz:  http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.lawestvector.org/images/ticks.j...
I've had adventures with ticks.

HI Kopit

thats very funny, I didnt know that the scorpions were part of that tick family, I got bit one day picking up a horse rug and man did it hurt. I didnt get physically sick but the pain was excutiating.

We do have bushtick ticks in the land down under, paraliysis ticks, brown ticks. Just have to check the dogs for ticks and not far from where I live, I was rodeoing and put my two horses in some yards overnight and the next morning they were riddle with ticks. Made them feel a bit sluggish, I had never seen anything like it in my life. When they filled with blood they would drop off. Some were small and I used tweezers to pick them off. One got on the back of my head also. not nice! Undecided

Anyway I wonder if Castlemaine is in Sydney??? Well hopefully the Master of Camp Oven will let me know about where to get a good camp oven. Koo-eeee Derek are you there somewhere.
Well catch you tommrrow
Regards Cool
