After seeing a number of Furphy Jaffle Irons selling for extremely high dollars of late I set out to find one.  Little did I know that they are still around and available.  Purchased mine at a small country store for $44.00.  As soon as I can get around to seasoning it I am going to give it a go with pies and jaffles..

Check out the photos below.

Hi Jono,

Don't think it's so much people on E-Bay are being robbers, I think it's more some people are gulable or have more money then sense, nobody is twisting their arms to purchase these.

Think I may have to get one and sell it myself, if I do that the camp oven set up I want will cost me nothing.

You would think that what these things are going for on E-Bay Furphy's would open up their foundry and start making their products in Australia rather the China knowing what the demand is like for the real thing.

Cheers
Kate

Where can I get one in Toowoomba?

Or get one from anywhere?

For my wife she is a Jaffle fan.

Could try mail order from the Furphy website.

How will you season it Derek, as the handle is wood.

G'day KD

I would keep an eye out on ebay, They turn up there pretty often.

as for seasoning it, I'm pretty sure the wooden handles screw off.

Regards

Jono

Yep, the handles do screw off.

Furphy have an agency in Toowoomba.  They should be able to tell you where you can get one.

Do you know I have two of these and neither has been seasoned or used.

Just watch eBay prices as I have seen them go for 4 times the recommended retail of $38.00 (That was the last price I had from Furphy)

I rang the Furphy guy in Toowoomba last week...  He was able to supply some info re store who were agents.  (He does the furnishings only).

The details provided was out of date, so I have sourced from the factory.

KD; Given I make regular trips to Toowoomba, I would happily order another and save a little on postage and handling.. (It will cost ya a cuppa to deliver on my next trip up)

Anyone els in Brisbane or the environs up for one>>  They are $42.00ea plus delivery

A furphy, is Australian slang for a rumour, or an erroneous or improbable story.  You would never get anything but the plain honest dinky-di truth here... I promise!!!!  Yup, hand on my heart, promise, true blue, uh-huh true dinks, dead set!!

If you can still add to your order, that would be most appreciated.
