Wholeheartedly agree with you Mikel.  There is to much camping and to much cooking and eating to do rather than argue over a few points.

Mikel

This was my Christmas present to myself last year.  Holds 5 litres.  I refuse to divulge how many times it gets refilled.  It's made of white oak.  Wink

Derek.
Now you are making me cry.
Until recently, very good friends of ours had the Royal Hotel at Eromanga ( furthest town from the sea in AU) and they also had a very simlar cask.
Try as we might, we could never empty it in one night!!!
But over 2 nights we gave it a bit of a nudge! Roll Eyes
mikel  (with nothing left but an empty glass!)  Sad

When I first got it they told me to allow the port to mature and take on the oak flavors before drinking it.

I learned very quickly that good port matures overnight  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Hi Mikel,

I was only playing with you Mike, sorry if you thought I was serious.

Cheers

Sorry newme and jason b but I just dont get get your "point"
I made what I thought was a reasoned comment. It was also addressed to Derek, the owner of this forum.
I could have made this as a PM to him but I chose to make MY opinion public.
The fact that you both jumped in, boots/n/all with your very ad hoc responses indicates to me that you have read very little of the posts from the early days of this forum.
Derek has attempted all along to make this a forum where feedback is recognised. This was not an attempt to influence this. I have made several posts which might be considered as "politically incorrect" but I would much prefer to be "bollocked" (see... there I go again) by a response than given a black mark in the margin.
Would like to read other comments on this (with respect to Derek).
cheers mikel

Derek

Mikel made his point and you responded positively "Thank You" I will not labour the point I just want to say that I find your site an interesting and informative location for the opinion and ideas of people with the same interests that I have.
I know that you are working to make the site new and fresh and I find myself getting into it more and more some of the new things will not be as popular as others and I feel that the one commented on was one of those (I guess we all struggle with anyone making judgements on us and this type of thing can turn nasty with payback etc.

I intend to both draw the good things from this site and add whenever I can and I look forward to a long association with all of those on this site

Once again thank you for listening to your members and a " Well Desrved "Well Done")

"QUOTE mikel"

G'day Derek.
One thing about this forum is that it is (or was) a place to offer, accept, and exchange ideas on camp oven cooking and many other things to do with outdoor/outback activities.

Not so long ago the forum became very short of contributions. Why? well you know the reason for that. A few of those contributors are now slowly, with their reservations, coming back. "END QUOTE"

I am one of those contributors who after doing the rounds of other like sites are now slowly, with their reservations, coming back.

Not so long ago my most regular PM poster was Derek usually starting with words such as " I must ask you once again to refrain  from posting comments  such as BLA BLA"
I can handle the Big D giving me a serve for  ( in his opinion) overstepping the mark, a mark that was a Grey area anyway, but i agree with  mikel.

I really  do not need everyone else telling me I have been a BAD BOY again.

Maybe we were sometimes a bit astray at times,  but there was nothing obscene or hurtful posted, just good fun  between Aussie mates besides it was all JTB's fault.

Hopefully we can bring this site back to the Galah thread days and all enjoy some great posts and stories of the old days.
Copy Derek let us have a bit of fun along with the serious stuff and this site will go ahead in leaps and bounds.
Regards Kev
