The weather was fine today and I couldn't wait to try out my new 8 inch Lodge Camp Oven.  Thought I would do an easy recipe so cooked a damper.

This is the simple recipe that I use.

INGREDIENTS
2 cups self raising flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Good pinch of salt
Milk

METHOD
Mix all the dry ingredients thoroughly.  Then mix in the milk with a wooden spoon until a soft moist dough (not to dry) is achieved.  Into the oven for around 30 minutes

These are my three Lodge Ovens with the 8 inch on top

...

After a bit of adjusting I ended up with 10 Heat Beads® on top and 4 Heat Beads on the bottom to give me around 180 degrees

...

Here is my little oven thermometer showing the temperature

...

Always sprinkle some flour on the base of the oven and in goes the mixture

...

Lifting the lid at 30 minutes

...

HOW'S THAT FOR CAMP OVEN TUCKER!

You may notice that the 10" oven in the pic above is deeper that the others.  It's what they call a 10" deep.

That looks tasty.  I'll have to try it in my newly obtained Lodge 8 inch oven.

A dealer in Victoria is selling new Lodge ovens but they aren't cheap, probably still cheaper to buy in the US and pay the postage ! $120 for a 12" pot.

Hey Sooty.
Coming from an old "crack whipper" like you (your last P - cooking galah) should you not have said "cockies joy"?
Or was that for Golden Syrup?
As kids we were quite happy with molasses!
But that damper sure looks the goods,eh.
