I am looking for a small 8" cake/gem/muffin tin, the only one I have been able to find is from Scandinavia and was very expensive, it would probably only make about 8 small cakes, I dont like the idea of cutting a rectangular tin to fit

Not sure if it's exactly what you're after but I have an old cast iron "Simpson" brand gem scone tray which is 8.5 " long and makes a dozen golf ball size cakes, I've used it and it works OK!
I bought it years ago at an antique shop in Daylesford for....... nah can't tell you that lol. Not mad about selling it but will trade for cast iron, It's seasoned and in new condition.

You say "long" so I guess its a rectangle type. I think they did sometimes come in a round version. I was wanting it for the Cobb, I will double check but from memory it could only be an 8" circular tin. To be honest I cant remember now exactly what I wanted it for, probably muffins.

I found one on US eBay about 12 months ago. Makes great muffins. I have seen others since then.

Believe it or not I paid 99 cents for it but about $12.00 for postage. The person I bought it off told me it was her grandmothers.

Thanks Derek there are about 3 good looking ones there at the moment. Funny enough I think I am pretty modern with using the computer but I shy away from ebay - daughters and husand both buy and sell though. I will wait on the Bedourie and see how the heating goes and if my small rectangle tin fits, you have very good uniform colour on your cookin in the round ones. I have seen that new soft material in the round but I think the camp ovens might exceed 260 at times and thats the limit on them. Could be worth a try though.

Yep Skip but that would be way too large for the 12" Bedourie and I am not getting a bigger oven. On another thread I posted muffins done in my minimuffin tins which fitted the Bedouri and for my purposes I will stick to that. Thanks for the input Kiss

I am looking at yours Skip and Dereks ROFL and IF I did get another one
I would go for the one with bigger holes Cheesy

as the tins worked fine for a
mini sized muffin and if I didnt get much browning in a tin I would get
even less in cast iron.

I couldnt work out why you didnt put the ruler on properly till I realised
your a youngun and was looking at the metric while the Bedourie makers
are still in inches.
