G'day muzz, looks good, a bit of trial and error with the air holes until you get it burning right. A lid with handles and a 100mm vent in the centre to hold the heat in might be an advantage then light 'er up and stand down wind while the paint burns off lol.
I carry two ovens in my fire bucket which is then suspended under the tray of my truck.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

PD
I burnt it over the weekend for about three hours, the paint would not blister, just went a little tacky, to the point I could not brush it off with a wire brush. Only had a small fire in it to see if would draw all right.
I will put a good fire in it on a still night. I do have a lid an old gal bin lid, fits good.
The holes seem to be about right 12 holes x 12mm, 60mm from the bottom.

G'day Muzz,
I like your design and might just make one the same! I have a question though -Have you cut the base out to light a fire on the ground or have you left the base in and put a fire grate up higher.
thanks
Roosel.

I left the bottom in, and there is no grate, the beads sit on the bottom of the drum. I am going to make every second hole 20mm. Some camp grounds and caravan parks don't like fires on the ground for obvious reasons.
The two tent pegs makes this set up expensive. While old beer kegs and gas bottles look to be very good I am trying to cut down on the weight.
