Hi all, I went late night shopping tonight and came upon these enamel pie dishes. My specimens at home were getting very chipped & crappy so I thought why not. The missus chucked me a quick sideways glance & rolled her eyes Roll Eyes

as I forked out the dough I thought 24 bucks was a good buy.

Are those made in England or is that just on the label. Also what size are they.

All the yellow and green ones I use are antiques and worth quite a bit but they are heavy.

Derek they are made in China but extremely good quality. They are light and the interior nice & smooth.
My mum has used this type of dish since the 40's (mainly the yellow & green one's) and she has given these the thumbs up. They are 24cm, 28cm & 32cm there was also a 20 cm one which I had no real use for.

Hi, can I ask what sort of a shop you found these at? I had all sorts of trouble trying to find these today. I ended up finding a little one (19.5cm x 15cm) for $4.95 from a camping/disposal store. They had a HUGE one too and some tiny little itty bitty ones aswell. The three camping stores I went to previously did not sell them. I did ask if they could get other sizes in and they said no.

I got all inspired by Derek's bread pudding in one of those enamel dishes, that I wanted to try it out with the enamel dish LOL!! My daughter made the bread pudding (she refused to put jam or sultanas so it wasn't that exciting) and we just cooked it in the oven, it rose up HUGE.

I would like some bigger sizes aswell, so I would like to know if they are at other shops other than disposal stores. Disposal shops are few and far between.

Gee I had never even heard or seen this type of cookware before. I just really love it.

Hello Violetmay,
welcome to the forum and you've chosen to become one of us ,so good on 'ya.
You are on the right track looking for the enamel cookware at camping stores. I got mine from Camping Country which is a national chain of stores. Camping World also seels this line. The local store here on the Sunshine Coast had four different sizes from memory as well as a variety of mixing bowls etc etc. This type of cookware is easily accessed but not all stores bother with it. When you find it ask to see the catalogue and you will be amazed at the range available.
It is real snazzy to cook with, my Mum has used it all her life and still reckons it's the ant's pants. Some of her dishes are at least 60 years old and although chipped still pump out some mean dishes.

Thanks Skip, I looked up both shops and they are in Maroochydore. I'm in Brisbane (Redlands area, near the water), so next time I go up the coast I will check out both those shops.
