Could anyone supply a picture or diagram of a lid lifter used on Bedourie type ovens-I'd like to make one myself and my previous effort isn't working as well as I'd like.
Thanks
The Roosel

Somewhere on this site I have seen photos of a lid lifter made for Bedourie oven. The triangular wire handles had been modified & made square approx 50mm. The lifter had metal tabs curled on the end to fit through the handles & welded to a rod of suitable length. Whoever made them & posted the photos said it was a much safer handle to use. I hope to get around to making a pair one day.
I have spent a bit of time trying to find the article but not having any luck. Derek may remember the photos & be able to advise you where to look.
Regards

Thanks Derek. I'll put the photo on the fridge to remind me I need to make a pair

Here are some photos of mine.  A mate made these for lifting the lid on a cast iron oven but they work a treat on a Bedourie.  Similarly I would expect that the commercial lifters you see in camping shops would work as well.

Two lifters lock into the lifting hooks.  There is no sideways movement whatsoever.

Yep, that one's definitely on my list of projects. No need to reinvent the wheel after looking at that. Thanks for the share.
