G'day everyone,
I have a logical question and looking for some answers"
If I'm happy with the following
1 x wife
1 x car
1 x house
1 x brussel sprout
1 x just about everything else

How come I want 20 x Camp Ovens??????????????
If someone tells me I have the bug is there a remedy or tonic for this ?

Sorry, from one who knows it only gets worse. What, for me started off as an interest is now a full blown obsession. I have pots from foundries you've never even heard of and I'm still searching and buying, sob  Crysob  CryI just can't help myself.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

It is an affliction Roosel, for which I believe there is no reliable cure.
Each and every one has its purpose, for me I have 3 bought ones, 1 home made (in which we once cooked 18 galahs) the rest being "heirlooms" from my (very) younger days.
These I frequently use, but they also insist that I dont forget their history, after all we are cooking and enjoying in what is from a bygone era.
How many folk these days dont have a microwave and or convection oven to cook in? We have neither.
Seldom a day passes when the bulk of our evening meal is not cooked outdoors either in the C/O, wood fire grill or gas barbeque.
Interesting how the circle turns, the more modern some things become the the old ways provide a better outcome.
Should be a pic from the shed...../

Geez Mikel I reckon a good snoop around that shed would be bring back a trip down memory lane.
I'll bet there's some top stories locked up in there.
I can't get over the snout on Peggy, bet she needs no help crunching up bones.
Don't think I'd be going near there without an invitation-especially with those rabbit/dog traps

No joke the Doctor told me he thinks I have hemochromatosis see quote
"What is hemochromatosis?
Hemochromatosis is the most common form of iron overload disease. Primary hemochromatosis, also called hereditary hemochromatosis, is an inherited disease. Secondary hemochromatosis is caused by anemia, alcoholism, and other disorders"

I reckon it's the same as "castironitis" I could not believe it when he told me.
Treatment- tapping off 1 litre blood each month.
I obviously need to replenish red blood cells with red wine.
Probably explains the need for more iron!!

Skip this problem was on the news  or current affairs today and they said it was relatively common and most men over a certain age should be tested.  As you were told the simple way for improvements was to give blood.   Hope this works for you.

You guys have me terrified of this castironitis.   I am slowly recovering from Red Hat Fever and think it might have been a cheaper and more storable addiction.  Every time one of you cooks something and shows yet another shape or size cast iron oven I think, I must look for or buy one of those!!!!!!!   My original intention for space and weight was to get something that covered almost every possible requirement.   After all mostly the cooking done in our camp is for two not very big eaters and not a busload of hungry active males.

Oh well tomorrow I might see how piroshki go in Bedourie....hopefully heat beads not gas heated.

Skip, I have Primary hemochromatosis too, found out about 2 yrs ago.
Started off on fortnightly bleeds for 3 months then 3 weekly, monthly. 6 weekly etc, am now on 3 monthly with iron level good.
I could not believe how much better I felt the day after, when I first started and did not need a reminder  when I was due as the old body told me.
It is a serious problem if left untreated so be sure to get bled as often as you need.
