Little_Kopit,

We fly into Vancouver on the 27th June, spending 4 night on Robson Street, apparently that's the street to stay on when in Vancouver, will visit Granville Island, the Aquarium, Stanley Park, Gastown and whatever else we can fit in.

We pick up our RV's on the 1st of July this is the RV we are getting actually we are getting 2.

http://canadream.com/CanaDream2006/Motorhomes/MHA.aspx

Don't know how to do the link thing, you showed me once but hey I'm a female.

My son is flying into Vancouver from Calgery on the 1st of July and will be travelling and showing us the sights Mount Lousie etc, we are going to the Calgery Stampeed (I promised the 3 grandsons I'd take them they will be 7, 8 & 9,) and will stay a couple of nights in Calgery, the RV's apparently will fit into said sons backyard.

Onto Drumheller Valley to see the Dinosaur Muesum and the excavation sites, apparently they have excavated in the last month or so a Dinosaur that had never been seen prior to the excavation, then onto Moosejaw for my sons wedding on the 12 July, on the 13th there is a family BBQ at the In Laws, they have a cattle property in Regina, we then hightail it back to Vancouver to fly out on the 18th, spend 3 nights in the Shangra-La Fijian Resort  and then back to Sydney on the 24th July.

That's about it, I'm hoping that they have some sort of Camp oven cooking at the Calgery Stampeed (crossing my fingers.)

Cheers
Kate

ps: the time seems to now be dragging on.

Kate,  I remember you're talking about this trip before.  After I posted I started wondering is this is.

I see one thing you have to learn before you get there.  Chances are Calgarians are just as caring about how you spell the word as Newfoundlanders are about how you say the word.   "a"  Calgary, two a's.

I've got at least 12 months before I head west for many of those things.

Here's the official site:  http://cs.calgarystampede.com/  I tried the search feature for,  camp oven cooking, dutch oven cooking and chuck wagon cooking.  I found this:  http://cs.calgarystampede.com/events/around_the_city/my_stampede/food.html

Searching tip:  Go to www.google.ca , click on the cirlce for pages from Canada and you are more apt to find what you want.

Wayne, I hope you don't mind  us hijacking to talk about 'our' country.

Way back in my personal antiquity, maybe 1975 or 76, I made a well remembered trip to Kitchener for a winter conference and opted to take my own 4wd wheels.  Of course, there were mechanical problems to be solved of an evening.  Kitchener managed to give me a garage who would do the work and get the parts well after 5 pm.

I've not been there in the non-snow months.

At that time my HQ was Sudbury and my travel job stompin' grounds from South East of there up to Hornepayne via White River, the home of the real Winnie the little Bear, later called Winnie the Pooh.

For Aussies, Wayne and I are 1 ferry and 2.5 days driving distant from each other.

Cool

Hi Wayne,

I can not wait now, seems the time is now dragging on.

I'm also starting to think the the time we have in Canada will not be long enough, think we should have made it a longer trip, then again we grandchild turns up I think that's another trip to Canada, bet he makes me wait years.

Cheers
Kate

I have never been part of a forum before, so please bear with me if i am all over the place. I am originally from Ireland, came here in 1989, i just love this country, and cant wait to get the opportunity to see more of it. I live in the Adelaide Hills SA, and just love it here. We hope to get to the Flinders Ranges later on in the year in our old camper trailer.

Thanks Mick. I knew someone would have a go, but one thing about the Irish, we have a great sense of humour. Glad to be part of the group.
