Lodge sells a fry basket that will work with their dutch ovens.  I bought one recently, but I have yet to use it.

Here are a few photos of my new toy.  Still not sure what I am going to use it for.  I bought it off eBay second hand and it is already well seasoned, possibly at manufacture.  TYHe handle off the "basket" unscrews and fits inside for storage.

Derek that really would make a great fish fryer. You know cut the fish into chunks then crumb or beer batter served with a nice green salad-that would be the grouse.
Or you could sell it to me!!! Grin

All the best

Looks like a handy gadget Derek.
Most of the blokes I go fishing with wont eat anything unless its cut into fingers (fish) then deep fried.
Unfortunately my gall stones dont take too kindly to all that fat so I have mine just basic grilled (with lots of pepper, garlic, chili or whatever.
So next time you are heading north to your new place in Qld., turn left at Dundee, just north of Glen Innes and a few km. down the road you can set up your camper beside the Severn R. and for breakfast next morning - voila - deep fried fish fingers in your new pot!!

Nice redfin fillets  the way I like them cooked!

How are you Derek, I've just been given a secondhand Furphy cast iron camp oven and have just joined your group. The oven is relatively new so has probably been made in China.

No experience at all in camp oven cooking at the moment and because of our fire resrictions in Vic will have to give it a try on gas.

Your site looks great with plenty of info. stinger

Hi Stinger and welcome to the site.  Wish someone would give me a second hand Furphy.  Grin Grin Grin Grin
