REMEMBER WHEN

Remember when we used to ride, in the ute back everywhere
In the summer or the winter cuddled up in blankets there
Now we have to sit inside, with seatbelts wrapped around instead
Kids were happy now their grumpy calling out to dad again

Are we there yet,is it far now need the toilet come on dad
Missus whinging at the traffic goodness gracious this is bad
Cant you see old dad is busy wish we were aloud again
To put the kids back in the ute back, where they'll all be quiet instead

Remember when we all would pack up, wooden trailer gear and tent
Traveling through the bush and scrub, our old ute was how we went
Two wheel driving how we traveled, Four wheel drive was not the go
We all pushed when it was needed, bogged the rotten so and so

But when we got there we were happy cooking dinner on the fire
Flames are dancing in the bush land, billy hanging on the wire
In the coals dad sat the oven, black and shining in the light
Filled with tucker, smell it cooking we'll be eating well tonight

Mum had helped us set the tents up falling over ropes and pins
Meatsafe set up in the centre legs in water placed in tins
Keep the ants out of the tucker, so its ready when we cook
Dad is playing round with us kids, we are splashing in the brook

Remember when you were aloud to, fish the creeks and ocean too
Without a permit or a licence, now we pay for all we do
We would look out for the bushland didn't need remimnding then
Everyone would clean up after, we had camped and gone again

Remember when it all was simple, we just naturally did it right
Rangers didn't have a job then, country looked a pretty sight
Now they make you feel so guilty even thogh we love it still
Camping now seems such a hassle, less you travel to the hills

Way out West where you can feel it natures call, come share with me
All the solitude and quiet, listen to the bush and trees
Smell the bushland on the breezes, drinking water cool and clean
Hear the angel of the bushland, watching natures bushland scenes

Remember when, do you remember, how it all was way back then
Catch the fish out of the water, worms were used for catching them
Cook'em up in our old oven, placed upon the glowing coals
Laying back upon the cool grass, dreaming of the days of old

Hey Furph

"Remembering When" can sometimes bring tears to your eyes.  Some good and some not so good from the past.

This is a beautiful song about remembering when.  You must wait for it to load.

Not without a pick-up truck!!!

BTW the 1/2 ton is  often the family car here in NL & it's still legal to ride in the back in some conditions.

Undecided
