I'm a newbie from Canada. Love your site it is just full of information. I have been cooking in black beauties for 51 years. Love to bake in them.
I have always cooked with wood coals but now find myself in a living situation where I have to start using briq. Sure like what I read about your heat beads which of course I can not get in Canada.
I would like to exchange ideas .

Howdy,

There are at least 3 Canucks camping out down here now.  BTW Aussies say heat beads (which is a brand) for charcoal briquettes).

Thanks Kopit They seemed like they burn hotter than our briq. so I thought when I went on line to see them that they were made of different goodies

Welcome Vicki,

Great photo, I love the big rectangle black beauty showing there, does it have a lid?  I am new to this kind of cooking but really get inspired by some of the great ideas in here.

Welcome Vicky
happy to have you on board you will find that no matter what you use as a heat source the food is still the same I use wood - beads and gas and there seems to be no difference to my sandpaper palette

Caroyln
I have one of those retangular pots with a lid
