finished the keg smoker today converted an old 50 litre keg into a two shelf smoker and I am armed with a few hundred recipes that are dieing to be used

tried out some smoked beef snags done by a mate and there just aint enough Y's in you beaur ro describe how good they were so thats my first project followed by smoked chicken
have found that it takes awhile to clear the smoke smell out of the CO so have been planning to construct the smoker for awhile

Movable benches are completed and most of the gear mounted on top tried out the CO table and it worked brilliantly with ehe Heat beads cooking a leg of lamb and two chooks friends up from Sydney plowed in and there were fingers in danger of being chewed on

when I have time I will take a few pics and post

cheers Furphy

Sounds like good gear you have made there..I have been smoking beef and Italian snags  for a good many years and yes they are delight to eat. I par boil them first with about a tablespoon of brown sugar... a Itialian fruit shop owner gave me the tip. Looking forward to some pictures.

What's the scoop there Muzz! I just par boil (Kransky's) with a tbsp of brown sugar then hot smoke them for..............? how long mate? that's right up my alley. We eat a lot of Plainlands Wurst here at home and that could be worth a try also!

All the best

Kransky's a little thicker than some snags I would try 30mins and see what happens.... play with the times a bit till you get it right.

Skip, Plainlands Wurst is one thing i have missed since moving north.
Always stopped and got some when passing by.
Best Wurst about I reckon.

Furph, I was offered a keg a couple of weeks ago and was noncommittal, thou did have thoughts of a crab cooker or small donkey for camping.     I might see if it is still available when I see your  pics

G'day Furphy,
I live in the thriving metropolis of the Sunshine Coast. I do have family in Toowoomba and regularly pass that way for some change of scenery. I have been known to frequent some of the beaut pubs in Toowoomba and it's common to pick up some plainlands whilst there. You know after about eleventy twenty beers and some cane cutters cordial I love buying one and dividing it up with some mates.
Gee! that must be a horrid sight for travellers passing through.
Not one with esp. Furphy but I figure you must hail from around Marburg or Laidley.
How'd I go?
Regards Skip

Thanks for the offer  Furph,.
It Wust be good to have some again, goes well with a drop of Old Tawney now the nights are getting cooler.
Don't go out of your way to get some, but if you do just chuck it in a packsaddle. Mail is getting through now the water has gone down   Grin
Thanks, Kev
