Hi all,
has anyone had any exposure to these tent-cots
http://www.kamprite.com/pages/products
I reckon they would be excellent for an overnight snooze or the likes. I'm not real keen on Creepy Crawlies so I thought that these might be the go. What do you think? I do have a swag but am finding sleeping on the deck is getting less comfortable for me.

Mate has one, hasn't tried it yet other than a test to see if he fits in but he is happy with it. Bit of a problem carry it around as it doesn't fit in the car boot, ok to toss in the boat.

Thanks Logfire but I thought they folded up! Either they don't or your mate has a Fiat Bambino with the suicide doors. Grin

Try a cheap air bed under the swag, you can get the thick blue ones for around $20.
I find my hips ache if Im on a hard surface.
Iv'e never bought a swag for that reason (that & they are too bulky to pack), The only time I borrowed one (with a good matress) I still put the air bed under it & it was great.(except when you fart!!!!)
I generally sleep in the back of my 4 runner or work ute for overnighters or a tent for longer stays with the family either way I just plug a 12V pump in the ciggy lighter & 2-3 Mins later you have it, packs down nice & small too. (use reverse on the pump to suck all the air out)

Skip, when I said reverse, I meant reversing it at the nozzle not the polarity at the battery!!!!

Thanks for clearing that up Mick..I had visions of Skip's cook floating off like the Priest in Brazil.
Mick I had a air bed back in in the 70's (and a good quality one Primus canvas covered) when we where shooting foxes in - 4 to 6c they got far to cold to sleep on regardless of what's on top of them..hopefully they have improved the insulation.

Yeh I still have one of those older ones muzz, only about 3" thick & no better than a bloody surf mat!
The newer style is about 6" thk.
Still if you can get e'm up off the ground they are better.
Have they find that priest yet???

I've got a queen ensemble air mattress I use for when the Mother-out-law comes with us. like an ensemble stands about two feet high. Tried it myself and bloody comfy, but like Derek I have the comfort of my camp trailer. The pumps Mick was talking about are little beauties, my mattress is quite large but it inflates and deflates it in no time.

We started with air mattress for our first venture back into camping at a mature age Smiley.  We camped at Wollondilly River -6 took till 10 a.m. to reach 6 - felt I knew why I wasnt keen on camping.

Early years we camped in the Snowy Mountain in December and was -4 I swore never again.

We then progressed to the X stretchers and self inflating mattresses.  It made such a difference.   A place to store stuff under and in wet weather or flies etc a good place to sit and eat in the tent.

We have since moved upstairs in a camper/trailer - queen size - off the ground - perfect for us.

Thanks for the feedback troops!. I hear what you say as I too have joined the army of Camper Trailer owners. I just reckon when out on a hunt or overnight fishing trip or similar and the Camper is too much drama A nap in a Tent Cot would be very snuggly!!

All the best

Skip, a couple of mates have got tent cots and love em, I'm not so sure though, most times I see them theres more mozzies in their tent cot than out side. It's probably got a bit to do with their drinking problems and lack of ability to zip them up properly Smiley Smiley All in all - I would buy one.

Cheers

Jono

I have decided to get one also Jono. I'm going for the extra size single Grin. All I have to do now is wait until Anaconda have a sale on them or one secondhand is located
